Unilever and FeyeCon Form Agreement on Sustainable Spreads
05 Jun 2014 --- Recently Unilever has made the first steps in the improvement of the environmental footprint of their Spreads portfolio (butter, cream, margarine etc.) through the re-launch of the Becel/Flora product portfolio using the new Coolblending technology.
Over the years the company FeyeCon (Weesp, The Netherlands) has contributed to the development of Unilever’s Coolblending technology. Coolblending technology is an important development in Unilever’s ambition to reduce the company’s carbon dioxide footprint and has been implemented in its spreads business in Europe in 2012. The technology will be rolled out during the coming years across several regions.
Unilever and FeyeCon now announce that relevant FeyeCon intellectual property rights have been transferred to Unilever allowing Unilever full access to the technology. In addition FeyeCon has obtained rights to relevant Unilever patents, allowing them to roll out the technology in other product areas.
As global leader in CO2 technology, FeyeCon is all about developing and implementing innovative clean technologies. The company uses CO2 to replace water or organic solvents in various processes to improve their sustainability and profitability. Having the motto that products from any industry branch can benefit from their CO2 technology, FeyeCon operates in a wide range of industries including food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and textile. With a market driven approach, FeyeCon offers innovative and tailor made process designs, equipment and completely new products. FeyeCon’s developments have currently been commercialized in over ten different joint ventures. Together with several (multinational) market partners FeyeCon’s new or improved products and processes have been successfully brought to the market.
