Oct 4 2011 --- The third annual report of the Federation House Commitment - the water reduction initiative launched in 2008 by the UK Food and Drink Federation (FDF) has been launched. It states that in 2010, the 59 signatories of the Commitment, which is now managed by WRAP, reduced their water use by 1.3 million m3 per annum compared to 2007 – a reduction of 5.3%.
Andrew Kuyk, FDF Director of Sustainability and Competitiveness, said: “The Federation House Commitment is a core part of FDF's Five-fold Environmental Ambition and the excellent 2010 result is an important milestone in our aim to achieve a significant reductions in water use to help reduce stress on the nation's water supplies and to contribute to the industry-wide target to reduce water use by 20% by 2020 compared to 2007."
“We are also pleased with the new services now offered under the FHC which includes one-to-one direct on-site support and new technical working groups, providing additional benefits to FHC signatories to help them reduce water use further.
“We look forward to the continued success of the FHC and hope that more companies will come to see the real benefits of participation and seek to join this successful programme.”
