The United Group sells 25% stake to Southern Wine & Spirits

17/02/05 Southern Wine & Spirits of America has bought 25 percent of The United Group, a multi-state wine and spirits distributor.
The deal makes United and Miami-based Southern Wine & Spirits strategic partners, effective April 1.
United Group Chairman A. Raymond Tye is to continue to serve as chairman and Dave Roberts as vice chairman and chief executive officer of operating company United Liquors.
The company was founded in 1934. It distributes to more than 6,000 restaurants and 2,500 liquor stores throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Revenue was about $370 million in 2003.
