Synergy Expands Natural Lactic Yeast Extract Range
Used in a wide range of savoury products in Europe and Asia, from soups, sauces, seasonings and crisps to ready meals, pastries and processed cheese, Saporesse ingredients offer taste enhancement, clean label appeal and cost-in-use savings.
Sep 29 2010 --- Savoury ingredients supplier Synergy has expanded its Saporesse range of natural lactic yeast extracts with two new products for crisp and snack seasonings and white or cheese sauces. The extension to the Saporesse portfolio is claimed to build on the success of the range, which includes Taste Enhancers and Dairy and Savoury Boosters. Used in a wide range of savoury products in Europe and Asia, from soups, sauces, seasonings and crisps to ready meals, pastries and processed cheese, Saporesse ingredients offer taste enhancement, clean label appeal and cost-in-use savings.
Saporesse Plus (241) and Saporesse Plus (242) improve flavor perception and provide all-important mouthfeel in standard and reduced sodium or fat products. Saporesse Plus (241) enhances overall flavour and confers a rounded, mature cheese note. Saporesse Plus (242) builds mouthfeel and creaminess and also delivers a rounded, mature cheese note.
Ian Butler, Innovations Director, Synergy comments: “Saporesse is our flagship savoury ingredient range and we have been astounded by its success in Europe and Asia. Our customers are constantly impressed by the functionality and cost-in-use benefits of the products. The two additions to the range meet specific needs for cheese profiles in Europe and strengthen our taste enhancement offering. All of our Saporesse ingredients can be used alongside Synergy’s natural flavourings to offer tailored solutions.
“Customers in Europe have been using Saporesse to meet development challenges including salt reduction in processed cheese, MSG removal in soup and as a building block to enhance cheese flavour in snacks and seasonings. As a leading supplier of lactic yeast extract, with a fully integrated supply chain, Synergy is the go-to supplier for taste enhancement.”
Geoff Allen, Synergy’s Export Director for Asia adds: “Saporesse is a great building block for savoury and dairy flavours. Most of the dairy and savoury flavourings we sell in the Far East contain Saporesse.”
After research and development suggested a strong market need for natural taste enhancement ingredients, Synergy’s dairy heritage and taste expertise combined to develop the Saporesse range six years ago. Following the growth of the Saporesse product range, Synergy’s parent company Carbery, invested €6 million in a state-of-the-art facility four years ago thanks to a strong demand internationally for added value ingredients for taste enhancement in reduced sodium and fat savoury products. Synergy’s parent company Carbery has an integrated approach to cheese making, which ensures all of its production outputs are processed into key added value ingredients.
The fractionation of whey is a key activity of the Carbery Operation and one such fraction is used for the production of fresh lactic yeast for the conversion into its unique yeast extract. This very approach to processing ensures that there will always be a continuous supply of Saporesse.
