Symrise clients appreciate CSR activities
With this cooperative endeavor, Symrise is continuing the systematic expansion of its expertise in the fields of botanical ingredients for skin and hair care. In 2006, the corporation acquired Kaden Biochemicals.
19/09/07 Symrise, the manufacturer of fragrances, flavors and cosmetic ingredients, released its first Corporate Social Responsibility report in June, describing its many CSR activities. The corporation's efforts in this area are appreciated also by its clients: cosmetics giant L´Oréal chose Symrise as one of eight suppliers to test a newly launched assessment system for raw materials.
Selecting and using the right kind of raw materials is a critical issue when it comes to sustainability in cosmetic products. The new assessment and selection process for cosmetic raw materials will achieve several goals at once: It will help guarantee consumer safety and health, protect the environment, support biodiversity, bolster fair trade and take into account social and societal impacts when processing manufacturing cosmetics.
“We are proud that L´Oréal chose us for this pilot project,” says Achim Daub, Global President Scent & Care at Symrise. “As a supplier for the international perfume, cosmetics and food industries, we are aware of our environmental, economic and social responsibility and have integrated the principles of sustainability into our corporate processes. The criteria that L´Oréal has established have a major impact on Symrise's research and development work. Our joint goal and our incentive is developing innovative and sustainable skin and hair care products with a promising future.”
With this cooperative endeavor, Symrise is continuing the systematic expansion of its expertise in the fields of botanical ingredients for skin and hair care. In 2006, the corporation acquired Kaden Biochemicals, a leading supplier of highly pure plant extracts. More recently, it announced its strategic partnership with biotechnology specialists BRAIN and Analyticon Discovery. The goal will be to develop innovative, sustainable active ingredients that are based on botanicals and can be used in cosmetics.
