Sudan scare moves on to China
Heinz has told its distributors and sales agencies across the country to recall suspected chili sauces and chili oils products.
08/03/05 Heinz has recalled its chili sauces and chili oils from China amid fears that may contain the red industrial dye Sudan 1. Chinese media have reported that Heinz has told its distributors and sales agencies across the country to recall the suspected products.
According to a local quality supervision department, six Heinz products, include chili sauces, oils and extracts, are suspected of containing Sudan I. They had asked the company to recall these food items. In nationwide inspections, law enforcement personnel from the Guangdong Provincial Administration of Quality Supervision have sealed up many sauces and oils that contain Sudan I.
