Solix Algredients Repositions as B2B Supplier of Algae-Based Nutrition Ingredients

27 Oct 2015 --- A U.S. company is helping brand manufacturers and retailers bring the benefits of algae-based natural ingredients to health-conscious consumers. Solix Algredients, Inc. has repositioned as a business-to-business (B2B) supplier of high quality natural ingredients derived from algae for the nutrition and personal care markets. Founded in 2006, and most recently operating as Solix BioSystems, the company's origins were in algae-based biofuels. 

Now operating under its new name, Solix Algredients is leveraging its extensive algal cultivation expertise to supply functional ingredients for consumer end-use. Solix will target its portfolio of algae-based ingredients to manufacturers and marketers of dietary supplement and personal care products.

Industry reaction to Solix Algredients has been positive, according to President and Chief Executive Officer, Austin Maguire. The company has also introduced Solasta Astaxanthin to the B2B ingredients marketplace. Solasta is a natural astaxanthin extract produced from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis, the richest natural source of the antioxidant. Research has shown that algal astaxanthin has superior antioxidant activity compared to other well-known antioxidants.1

Solasta Astaxanthin is an excellent source of astaxanthin for use in dietary supplement and personal care applications. Solasta is non-GMO, vegetarian, and extracted in the USA. The extraction uses super-critical carbon dioxide to ensure the safety, quality, and consistency of Solasta. 

Solix Algredients is now leveraging its extensive algal cultivation expertise to supply functional ingredients for consumer end-use. Solasta Astaxanthin is manufactured in accordance with industry best practices and guidelines (current Good Manufacturing Practice - GMP) defined by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Solasta meets the strict quality standards set forth in the Astaxanthin Esters Monographs of the Food Chemical Codex2 and the US Pharmacopeia3.
