Snapple and CoolBrands International Launch Snapple on Ice Pops
Attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the "World's Largest Ice Pop"
21/06/05 New York City's famous skyline is getting a makeover on Tuesday, June 21, thanks to Snapple and CoolBrands International and the introduction of new Snapple on Ice pops. New Yorkers and tourists alike will be overwhelmed by the immense "ice scraper" that is attempting to break the existing Guinness World Record for the "World's Largest Ice Pop." The two-and-a-half story tall, 20-ton, kiwi strawberry-flavored, edible Snapple on Ice pop will stand tall in New York City's Union Square.
The record-breaking Snapple on Ice pop contains more than 3,950 gallons of kiwi strawberry mixture and is made up of more than 302,000 regular-size servings of Snapple on Ice-enough to serve every person in Buffalo, NY and then some. The topper: the "World's Largest Ice Pop," just like the original, will sport a Snapple "Real Fact" on the stick. The "Real Fact" states that an 11-year-old boy created the first ice pop in 1905.
Snapple has enlisted world-famous ice expert Max Bollkman Zuleta to break the Guinness World Record for the "World's Largest Ice Pop," currently held by Jan Van Den Berg from The Netherlands. Van Den Berg constructed a 21' long, 7'5" wide and 3'7" thick pop in August of 1997. "I've been working with ice my entire life, but the opportunity to create a 20-ton Snapple on Ice pop even sent chills down my spine," said Bollkman Zuleta, who has been working on the massive Snapple on Ice pop since mid-May.
Beginning at 10 a.m., it will take Bollkman Zuleta approximately two hours to completely unveil the ice pop, which has been in a deep freeze, at -15 degrees Fahrenheit for more than two weeks in Edison, New Jersey. That's colder than the North Pole! The Snapple on Ice pop will be transported via freezer truck to New York City, where it will be unveiled under the watchful eye of a Guinness World Record judge and surveyor.
As part of the world record attempt, Snapple will be "returning the favor" to those who stop by Union Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with FREE Snapple on Ice and Snapple beverages. Also celebrating the first day of summer with Snapple is Wendy "The Snapple Lady" Kaufman, testing consumers' knowledge of Snapple "Real Facts."
