Sleever Gives Icelandic Glacial a Clear Answer
A new film formulation provides labeling which conveys a high purity of the product resulting in high clarity.
Sleever International, the leading provider of sleeving solutions globally, has produced a premium packaging answer for the new mineral water brand Icelandic Glacial, which received its World Premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival held in May, in square 50cl and 1 litre square bottles with a striking relief design.
“We’ve used a new film formulation to provide Icelandic Glacial with labelling which conveys the high purity of their product, says Eric Masson, Sleever International’s European Sales Director. “The new film, SI-OPS / TH 050, produces the very high clarity needed for Icelandic Glacial’s exciting labelling.”
The clear sleeve on a clear bottle emphasises the purity of Icelandic Glacial water as well as making it possible for Icelandic to produce a label unlike any other. “A large part of the design is actually on the reverse of the sleeve,” says Eric Masson. “You see it through the bottle and get a play of light with the water which makes for an attractive and striking effect. The translucent sleeve offered by Sleever International’s technology was a vital part of making this work.
“The new material minimises the ‘smile’ effect, as the shape of the bottle makes it an essential technical requirement to preserve the general appearance of the Icelandic packaging “says Eric Masson.
Sleever’s innovative solution goes beyond the sleeving material. “The Icelandic Glacial logo is in a striking metallic silver, which called for a new technical varnish which closely imitates the appearance of foil blocking,” he says. “We were able to provide them with a metallised silver varnish which does just that.”
