Shortie packaging lauched in Canada
The Shortie has been designed to combine the portability of a larger re-sealable bottle with the same volume as a 355 mL can, making it easy for consumers to enjoy their favourite Coca-Cola beverages on the go.
05/04/05 Focusing on convenience, portability, re-sealability and true taste enjoyment, Coca-Cola has announced that it will begin national Canadian distribution of its newest bottle size, nicknamed the Shortie, later this spring.Initially, the new format will be available in Coca-Cola Classic, Diet Coke and Sprite as well as DASANI bottled water.
The Shortie has been designed to combine the portability of a larger re-sealable bottle with the same volume as a 355 mL can, making it easy for consumers to enjoy their favourite Coca-Cola beverages on the go. The 355 mL PET bottle was recently launched in the US and has been well received by consumers. In addition, the new bottle format will follow the same distinctive contour shape of the original Coca-Cola bottle.
"Packaging innovations are essential to meeting consumer needs and desires," says Silvio Annosantini, Director, Innovations, Coca-Cola Ltd. "Not only are consumers looking for new flavours but they want packaging that will adjust to their on-the-go lifestyles allowing them more freedom and options. Consumers have told us they love the size of our regular can but want the convenience of a re-sealable bottle."
The new bottles will be available in 8-pack Fridge Mate. The Coca-Cola Fridge Mate format recently won the 2004 Best New Product Awards for best packaged beverage innovation as voted on by Canadian consumers.
