Philibert Savours Develops Innovative Fruit Flakes Range, Expands Gluten Free Platform
15 Feb 2016 --- With Too Fruit, Philibert Savours is offering a new range of fruit flakes that will enable professionals to employ their creativity and inventiveness. The new Too Fruit range lets imagination and creativity run free by offering endless possibilities including cream, ice cream, sponges, chocolate, sauces and American pastries. The range comes in seven different fruit options: orange, lemon, raspberry, blackcurrant, strawberry, apricot and banana.
Pascale Philibert, Managing Director of Philibert Savours (pictured) explained the thought behind the product to FoodIngredientsFirst at Europain 2016 (Paris): “Because many people use fruit puree, which contains a lot of water, they have to store it in the fridge and as a result, the shelf life is very short. So we have tried to give the customer new possibilities by offering something easy to use with a long shelf life.”
Made with fortified colorings and aromas, the fruit flakes conserve their original fruit flavor and color, which the company claims makes them as good as fresh or frozen fruit. The fruit flakes conserve their minerals and fibers thanks to Philibert Savours’ expertise in the dehydrated fruit market. “When you offer a cake or muffins with lemon or orange in it, the final customers want to see the color and taste and smell the right products. By adding our fruit flakes to a normal product or a product going into the oven, you have amazing possibilities. You really see, taste and smell the lemon or the orange in the products,” says Philibert.
Savings on transport can be made due to their reduced weight and volume and they can be stored at room temperature. Sustainability is particularly important to Philibert, who says, “when you launch a new product, you have to think about how to find the best solution, the most sustainable solution in order to create a better world, this is very important.” With customers in Dubai, Philibert is also conscious of the convenience of offering a powder with a 12-month shelf life and ability to store at 25 degrees Celsius. And as the Too Fruit range is also gluten free, it means everyone can enjoy it. The fruit is carefully selected as the finesse and richness of the flavors found in the finished products are a result of the quality of the raw material used. They are prepared and enhanced using a tried and tested dehydration process.
Philibert Savours has also launched an entirely gluten free range, to expand its’ activity behind this key platform. Philibert Savours’ visions of the future and development projects are built around three main themes: Gluten-Free beyond expectations, Gluten-Free outstanding benefits and the company’s main commitment, “Gluten Freedom for all.”
With Savours’ Gluten-Free beyond expectations range, the company offers its customers new solutions with a distinctive taste. Examples of products in the range include Gluten-Free Cakes & Muffins and Gingerbreads, which the company claims are delicious and even preferred by some to their classic counterparts.
The Gluten-Free outstanding benefits range focusses on offering gluten free options without gum and in some cases, without E-numbers. Philibert explains, “I wanted to launch new gluten free products, new possibilities, so it’s possible for consumers to eat wonderful gluten free products without gum or E-numbers.” The company claims these products are easier to digest and some of them, such as their platine bread, are clean label standard. Savours’ short term objective is to make it to no E-number for the entire range.
Philibert Savours says it is strongly committed to “Gluten Freedom for all” which favors the natural approach. For the future market, Pascal Philibert is designing a Gluten-Free solution for each moment of the day. He says, “I think in the future, there will be a new concept where it’s possible to eat gluten free food throughout the day, from breakfast until dinner.” From its baguettes and platine bread to its cakes and muffins, buns and pizzas, Savours’ principle is to offer gluten-free food for everyone.
Philibert Savours has also made progress in the bread sector in terms of its appearance, texture and flavor. The Omega 3 gluten free baguette can be produced in an extensive palette of colors from off white to golden brown.
