"I'm very pleased that we earned the Superior Taste Award. The unique, extremely pure sensory profile of our Omevital Omega-3 fatty acids is a very important criterion for differentiation and success in the foodstuffs industry. The award confirms the unique position we enjoy in this sector and will help make our Omega-3 products and solutions even better known in this market," says Massimo Armada, Head of the Global Business Unit Human Nutrition at BASF.
Omevital series products contain the long-chain fatty acids EPA and DHA, which are known to have a positive influence on heart and brain health. The fatty acids are derived from salt-water fish. Omevital in oil form can be used in milk products, spreads and other fat-based products. The excellent sensory profile of Omevital Omega-3 fatty acid makes it easy to integrate the ingredient in a number of food formulations without compromising taste or smell. Omevital, from the Omega-3 fatty acids palette, was developed especially for people who have difficulty swallowing products in capsule form. Omevital can be taken with a spoon or added to a meal.
The iTQi jury consists of 120 recognized chefs and sommeliers who assess and evaluate sensory criteria such as initial impression, appearance, aroma, character, taste and smell of a product. Products which receive the award can use the iTQi seal of approval for a period of three years.
