New Chairman for Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad
A member of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad’s Audit Committee, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
20/04/09 Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, following the passing of a resolution by shareholders at the Company’s 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar takes over the helm from General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Mohd. Ghazali Seth who will retire after having served as the Company’s Chairman for the past two decades.
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar was appointed as a Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director of the Company on 25 February 2002, and subsequently reclassified as an Independent, Non-Executive Director on 5 November 2004.
He currently also serves as the Chairman/Director of EON Bank Berhad, and is a Director of a few public listed companies, namely DRB-Hicom Berhad, Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad and EON Capital Berhad.
A member of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad’s Audit Committee, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is also a Certified Practising Accountant from the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountant, having qualified in 1984.
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar began his career in 1975 with Malaysian Airlines Systems Berhad as its Financial Accountant, before moving to senior positions in various companies including Price Waterhouse Australia, D&C Nomura Merchant Bank Berhad, Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad, Mega SPJ Sdn. Bhd., Coral Land Sdn. Bhd. and Amanah Capital Partners Berhad. He was also the Investment Panel Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji.
Outgoing Chairman, General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Mohd. Ghazali Seth, takes his leave after having served as Chairman of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad since 1986. During his tenure, he witnessed many firsts for the Company including its debut on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad) in 1989. General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Mohd. Ghazali was also the Chairman of the Audit Committee. He was first appointed as an Independent, Non-Executive Director of the Company on 6 January 1986. General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Mohd. Ghazali is a retired General who served in the Malaysian Armed Forces for nearly 36 years.
