Natural Rosemary Solution Extends the Shelf-Life of Prawns

11/12/07 Vitiva, Slovenia has introduced a new natural solution for extended shelf-life of prawns. AquaROX 10, a new allergen-free and GMO-Free rosemary formulation, was shown to be a significantly effective protection for preserving fresh and frozen prawns.
Seafood is very sensitive to oxidation and cannot be kept fresh for a long time if it is only refrigerated. Due to its unique composition it is exposed to oxidative degradation, which results in unpleasant taste, odor, change in color as well as microbiological changes.
“We have tested AquaROX on prawns sold in vacuum packs and in brine solutions,” explained Ohad Cohen, CEO at Vitiva. ”The results show that utilizing the new rosemary formulation in concentration of 0.2% on prawns in storage helps in maintaining their original great taste and color for up to 5 days, while sustaining excellent microbiological stability.”
