Müller to launch omega 3 fortified yogurt
The Muller Vitality range of products contain good probiotic cultures as well as the prebiotic inulin which encourages the growth of good bacteria, thus helping to maintain a healthy digestive system.
18/11/05 Müller Vitality is to become the first range of functional yogurts and yogurt drinks to be boosted with the benefits of very long chain Omega 3 fatty acids in the UK.
The range is being launched with the aim of increasing consumer consumption of Omega 3 as, despite the fact that Omega 3 is essential for good health, dietary surveys1 show that most people aren’t getting nearly enough. Primary sources of Omega 3 in the diet are oily fish such as sardines, mackerel, pilchards, salmon, fresh tuna and trout. However, fish, particularly oily fish, is not a popular choice for everyone with as many as 70% people in the UK not eating any fish at all.
Chris McDonough, marketing director for Müller, commented: “We believe that by adding omega 3 to our Müller Vitality products, we are providing the consumer with an easier, tasty and convenient way to top up intakes of omega 3. We are also pleased to announce that Müller Vitality will be the first range of pre and probiotic products to contain omega 3, giving the range significant standout from the functional foods market.”
The Muller Vitality range of products contain good probiotic cultures as well as the prebiotic inulin which encourages the growth of good bacteria, thus helping to maintain a healthy digestive system. Because the range comes from Müller, it has been carefully prepared to ensure that the Omega 3 content makes not compromise on taste.
Müller Vitality with Omega 3 will be supported by a £10 million marketing campaign to include TV, press and outdoor advertising beginning in January, as well as sampling to over 1 million consumers in the first quarter, a heavyweight PR campaign and radio activity.
