Milk Specialties Extends Non-GMO Product Verified Line
15 May 2017 --- Milk Specialties Global has added a new clean-label product to its already extensive protein portfolio: Non-GMO Project Verified Organic Non-Fat Dried Milk (ONFDM). The industry-leading dairy protein manufacturer will produce the new product out of its Norfolk, NE facility.
Recently, the same Norfolk facility was awarded the Validus Dairy Animal Welfare Review Certification. This certification highlights Milk Specialties Global’s support of farmers’ animal welfare practices. Through independent third-party audits, it also assures customers that they are receiving consistent, quality dairy products.
With the addition of Non-GMO Project Verified to the Norfolk facility’s list of certifications, Milk Specialties Global is showing its commitment to supporting the increasing demand for cleaner label products.
What does Non-GMO Project Verified mean?
The Non-GMO Project Organization prides itself as, “a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to building and protecting a non-GMO food supply.” They do this “through consumer education and outreach programs; marketing support provided to Non-GMO Project Verified brands; and training resources provided to retailers.”
To become verified, a company must complete six steps, from working with an independent technical administrator to provide unbiased product evaluations, to completing a full evaluation of the company’s ingredients and the manufacturing facility.
In the end, the company is awarded with a “highly meaningful” label for consumers looking for Non-GMO ingredients and products.
What does this mean for Milk Specialties Global and its customers?
This certification is a meaningful way for Milk Specialties Global customers to meet the needs of their consumers who ask for clean-label products with no genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
