14/07/08 Mühlenchemie and Nensey Food Ingredients are stepping up their cooperation and establishing Stern Ingredients India Private Limited in Mumbai. The jointly owned company is also investing in a sophisticated baking laboratory and compounding plant that will enable it to serve the Indian milling and baking market faster and more efficiently.
India has a population of 1.1 billion, with an annual wheat flour consumption of around 50 million tons. This huge market is supplied by over 1,000 industrial grain mills. Mühlenchemie GmbH & Co. KG recognized this potential ten years ago and has since been cooperating successfully with the Indian company Nensey Food Ingredients, a member of the Palani Group. “A lot has changed in the past ten years”, says Lennart Kutschinski, Managing Director of Mühlenchemie. “For one thing, reduced import duties have helped to improve the logistic aspects and production conditions. So we decided to establish an Indian branch together with Nensey Food Ingredients. Stern Ingredients India Private Limited will enable us to respond to the millers’ needs quickly, on the spot”, Kutschinski continues.

Biren Palani, Managing Director of Nensey Food Ingredients: “It’s extremely important to be present in a particular region because the nature of the flour and the demands made on it vary from one part of the world to another. We are proud to be able to offer our Indian customers even better advice and service on the spot together with a company that is the international leader in flour improvement.”
