Joint Project Innovation for Compostable Packaging
The BCPN-project Compostable Packaging, ending in 2012, is part of the InnovationPerformanceContract Bioplastics of the Belangenvereniging composteerbare producten Nederland (BCPN).
1/26/2011 --- On Tuesday 18 January 2011, the kick-off meeting of the BCPN-project Compostable Packaging took place at Nedupack Thermoforming in Rheden, the Netherlands. In this project four companies are working together with the NVC Netherlands Packaging Centre to improve the possibilities for the use of compostable plastics in packaging.
Besides Nedupack Thermoforming, the other three partners in the project are Bio4Pack, Plastics2Pack and Flevostar Dronten. The BCPN-project Compostable Packaging, ending in 2012, is part of the InnovationPerformanceContract Bioplastics of the Belangenvereniging composteerbare producten Nederland (BCPN).
During the meeting it became clear that knowledge transfer is an important factor for the success of the project. To gain clear insight in the existing knowledge of the use of compostable packaging, a survey will be distributed amongst companies that place packaged products on the market. The results of this survey will be used to improve the information services. The results will also be used to support the development of a course on the use of compostable packaging. Parallel to this the participating companies will do research on different aspects of compostable packaging, like the influence on product shelf life and the processability in the packaging line.
