13 May 2014 --- The Hillshire Brands Company has announced it is extending further outside the deli market with the acquisition of Pinnacle Foods, in a deal valued at $4.3bn. The move means that the Chicago-based company, which makes Hillshire Farm lunch meats, Jimmy Dean sausages and Ball Park Franks, will be able to extend further into other sections of the supermarkets with additions to its portfolio such as Birds Eye frozen vegetables, Celeste frozen pizzas and Vlasic pickles.
