GPC and ENRECO Announce Strategic Alliance
Demand for flaxseed has grown in tandem with burgeoning consumer demands for omega-3s, pre-biotic dietary fibers, antioxidants, low-glycemic and gluten-free foods.
1 Jul 2010 --- Two highly regarded food ingredient companies are joining forces to expand market opportunities for nutritional flaxseed ingredients. Demand for flaxseed has grown in tandem with burgeoning consumer demands for omega-3s, pre-biotic dietary fibers, antioxidants, low-glycemic and gluten-free foods.
Grain Processing Corporation (GPC) of Muscatine, IA, and ENRECO, Inc., Newton, WI, have announced a strategic alliance in which GPC becomes the exclusive U.S. marketer of ENRECO’s Sterling Choice brand of flaxseed ingredients to the food industry.
“This collaboration will make it easier for our customers to access all of the diverse health benefits of flaxseed, especially its high omega-3 fatty acid content,” said Brian Tompoles, GPC Vice President. “This is a good move for us and for our customers,” added Sean Moriarty, ENRECO President. “ENRECO’s collaboration with GPC significantly expands our market presence while leveraging GPC’s first-rate customer service and technical applications capabilities.”
As consumers become increasingly aware of flaxseed’s many and varied health benefits, demand for products containing flaxseed continues to grow. Adding even low amounts of flaxseed to bakery, snack, entrée and other food items will significantly improve product nutritional profiles and ingredient label appeal.
