18/02/08 Global Brands, the UK’s leading independent drinks distributor, has signed an agreement with Diageo Great Britain to distribute two premium spirits, cinnamon schnapps brand Goldschlager and Myer's Jamaican dark rum.
Global Brands now owns the rights to exclusively sell, distribute and market both products in Great Britain, since signing the distribution deal with Diageo GB on 15 February 2008. Diageo will continue to manufacture the product.
Steve Perez, Managing Director of Global Brands, comments: 'This is an exciting time for us. Goldschlager is a very well recognised brand in the marketplace and there is a huge opportunity for us to grow its market share further.
'Myer’s has great distribution outside Great Britain and is already popular with many upmarket on-trade establishments, including lifestyle and cocktail bars and hotels. It’s still relatively new in this market and we are committed to making it more accessible to all potential customers.
'Both brands fit well with our distribution base and also with our continued expansion into the spirit market, as we look to grow our premium range.'
James Pennefather, from Diageo GB says of the partnership: 'We are continually looking at ways in which we can maximise opportunities for our brands. This agreement will allow Global Brands to give real focus to these two brands and help unlock growth.'
