Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing has unveiled a liquids production facility in Reading, Ohio, US, with a CHF 187 million (US$233.6 million) investment to boost its operational presence in the country. The move marks the flavor supplier’s advancement in technologies and processes that aim to maximize production while reducing environmental impact.
The new site will complement the company’s existing facilities in North America and covers 24,000 square meters within a total reserved land area of more than 100,000 square meters to allow future expansion.
Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing currently has 17 locations across the US and Canada.
“This new facility represents our largest investment in the US in many years, demonstrating the importance of the market to Givaudan and the food and beverage industry,” says Gilles Andrier, CEO of Givaudan.
The move will bolster the Swiss firm’s 2030 strategy to strengthen its market and operational presence, “extending customer reach, and advancing sustainable, innovative solutions that consumers love.”
The site is under construction, with completion expected in 18 months and partial operations scheduled to begin in 2027. The company expects to create over 300 jobs at the facility over time to support local talent and the sustainable growth of the economy.

Driving environmental initiatives
Givaudan is also targeting the site’s environmental well-being through community and environmental initiatives.
The company emphasizes that it will offer community programs, such as educational initiatives, through local partnerships. The site will not use natural gas for its operations to further reduce Givaudan’s overall GHG emissions.
The project will also introduce sustainable technologies, such as carbon bed filtration at the site.
