Ganeden Biotech and Organic Milling Develop a New Line of Probiotic Functional Yogurt Ingredient Puffs
The probiotic yogurt puffs are a great delivery method for companies to receive the benefits of GanedenBC30 in a finished product with multiple applications.
Oct 8 2010 --- Ganeden Biotech, Inc., maker of the patented probiotic strain GanedenBC30®, and Organic Milling, a custom cereal, granola, and snack food manufacturer, announced a new partnership that incorporates the patented probiotic ingredient GanedenBC30 into a new line of functional yogurt puffs.
Developed to exist either as a standalone raw material, or to be included within hundreds of factory-ready recipes, the new probiotic yogurt puffs provide the benefits of probiotics as well as added flavor and texture to a wide variety of finished products. They can serve as toppings for ice cream or yogurt and can be easily incorporated into any of Organic Milling's signature products, which include its customizable breakfast cereals and granolas.
Unlike other probiotic strains, the spore-forming nature of GanedenBC30 makes it a unique probiotic ingredient because of its ability to survive high and low temperatures, high pressure and sheer during manufacturing, shelf life, pH and water activity ranges of finished products. This is due to the naturally-occurring layer of organic material the spore creates, which protects the genetic core of the bacteria, allowing for GanedenBC30 to survive all of those conditions and still provide a probiotic health benefit.
"The probiotic yogurt puffs are a great delivery method for companies to receive the benefits of GanedenBC30 in a finished product with multiple applications," said Mike Bush, vice president of business development for Ganeden Biotech. "Organic Milling has a wonderful reputation for producing quality products, and it is a pleasure to add them to the growing list of companies formulating with our GanedenBC30 probiotic."
Designed to fit the specific needs inherent to private label, contract manufacturing, licensed and propriety brands, the new probiotic yogurt puffs can be customized according to recipe, quantity, packaging and methods of production, which includes conventional manufacturing, all natural, Kosher, gluten free or "made with organics."
"With consumers increasingly demanding the health benefits associated with probiotics, we felt that this was the logical next step in our evolution as a premium food product manufacturer," said Tom Lonsway, executive vice president of sales & marketing for Organic Milling. "We were looking for a probiotic that was robust, cost efficient and credible, and GanedenBC30 was naturally the first choice based on all of those requirements."
