FDA Expands the Use of Acacia Gum
06 Jan 2014 --- Following a request by Nexira, in an announcement made on December 6th 2013, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has expanded safe use of acacia gum (gum Arabic) across the food and beverage industry. From beverages to soups, breakfast cereals to baked goods and more, the maximum usage levels of acacia gum permitted in products is now higher.
For you, this creates two great opportunities: 1) use even greater amounts of acacia gum in your products, and 2) promote higher fiber content to your customers.
Nexira has spent almost two decades researching the nutritional benefits of Fibregum, the company's unique range of acacia gum with a guaranteed content of health soluble fiber, so we’ve known for some time that acacia gum’s high content of soluble dietary fiber offers you and your customers several benefits. For your product it means additional fiber enrichment driving multiple health benefits.
Whether it means now being able to re-label certain products or more strongly promote fiber benefits on the label, the FDA approval greatly expands how acacia gum can be used in the food and beverage industry.
The R&D team at Nexira will continue to improve the functional performance of acacia gum with the vision of innovating new products for even higher value-added applications. We stand by our guarantee of high-quality, all natural products, coming from environmentally friendly cultivation (no use of pesticides or fertilizers) with traceability of each batch from the tree to you.
