Family-Owned Wineries Gain Strength From Creation of Goelet Wine Estates
GWE represents the family's unification of its diverse, terroir driven wine portfolio and positions the company as a leading marketing entity within the ultra-premium wine market.
06/09/07 The Goelet family announced the formation of Goelet Wine Estates (GWE) to globally market the family's five wine brands. The move coordinates the sales, distribution and marketing resources of its ultra-premium pioneering wineries -- Clos Du Val in the Napa Valley; Taltarni Vineyards in Victoria, Australia; Clover Hill and Lalla Gully in Tasmania, Australia; and Domaine de Nizas in the Languedoc region of France.
The creation of GWE consolidates the original vision of founder John Goelet and the winemaking philosophy of co-founder Bernard Portet. GWE represents the family's unification of its diverse, terroir driven wine portfolio and positions the company as a leading marketing entity within the ultra-premium wine market.
"This partnership offers a complete portfolio that strengthens each brand across a broader market," said Christopher Goelet, Chairman of GWE's Board of Directors. "It improves distribution and enables strategic placement of our wines globally."
Bernard Portet has been instrumental in the site selection and winemaking direction, and remains involved in each property. "Our objective in forming GWE is to provide a portfolio of world class wines that express each site's regional characteristics," said Portet. "These wineries exhibit the traditional values of finesse, elegance, structure and complexity displayed in their wines."
Adam Torpy, Chief Executive of Taltarni Vineyards, serves as GWE's President of Sales and Marketing. "Alignment of our five brands allows us to highlight the shared history and synergies of each brand," said Torpy. "GWE presents a distinct fine wine alliance to trade and consumers, showcasing a portfolio of prestigious wines from pioneering, family-owned wineries around the world."
