Sep 17 2010 --- ESM Technologies, the leading supplier of innovative, commercialized eggshell and eggshell membrane wellness ingredients, has received self-affirmed Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status for its patented, clinically proven ingredient, NEM (Natural Eggshell Membrane).
NEM attained GRAS status following safety and toxicology reviews by an independent expert panel. This will allow NEM to expand into the food and beverage industry. There are numerous food and beverage categories for which NEM is approved for use; a few include beverages and beverage bases, fruit and vegetable juices, baked goods, soft candy and snack foods.
The Allowable Daily Intake (ADI) for NEM is up to 14 grams per day for food use and intake. “Attaining GRAS status for our cornerstone ingredient, NEM, demonstrates our continued commitment to safety and quality and will allow additional markets to benefit from its proven clinical efficacy”, said Kevin J.
