D.D. Williamson Marks 150 Year Anniversary
05 Feb 2015 --- A world leader in natural food coloring looks to a vibrant future as it marks a historical milestone. D.D. Williamson & Co., Inc., founded in 1865, traces its origins to manufacturing burnt sugars in New York for the brewing industry. Today, DDW’s complete portfolio of natural coloring and coloring foods, along with its sought after caramel colour and burnt sugar, help sell over 2 billion servings of foods and beverages every day.
DDW’s color solutions – across the hue spectrum – are used to enhance the visual appeal of their brands. DDW kicked off its yearlong 150th anniversary celebration in January.
“To survive and thrive for fifteen decades is a remarkable achievement of innovation and growth, said Ted Nixon, chairman and CEO. “A reflection on DDW’s history reveals a common thread of engaged associates around a focus on customers.”
In recent decades, DDW subsidiaries have earned third party certification for global food safety at the top rating, quality systems, ethical business practices, corporate social responsibility, and select supplier recognition from food industry leaders. DDW operates nine manufacturing sites on five continents. Its newest addition is a natural color production facility under construction in Co. Cork, Ireland.
“We are proud of our history of prioritizing service to customers, adhering to the industry’s highest standards, and our bright, innovation-driven future,” added Graham Merryweather, Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing.
Over the coming months, DDW will recognize the 150th anniversary with celebrations at each location attended by customers, associates, and their families. DDW also plans to host special events with customers at the IFT Food Expo in Chicago and Fi Europe in Paris.
