Danisco Inaugurates New Sweetener Application Center
The new facilities reflect the target market applications for the Sweeteners & Pharma business unit including the ability to manufacture all types of confectionery, chocolate, tablets, coated products, chewing gum, fine bakery ware, dairy and beverages.
18/01/07 Newly renovated product and concept development facilities were opened this week in Redhill, UK by Torben Svejgard, CEO Danisco Texturants & Sweeteners Division.
The new facilities being part of the global Danisco Innovation network reflect the target market applications for the Sweeteners & Pharma business unit including the ability to manufacture all types of confectionery, chocolate, tablets, coated products, chewing gum, fine bakery ware, dairy and beverages.
There is dedicated laboratory space for each of these applications and the Sweetener & Pharma commercial, technical and application teams are now able to work closely together in a “state of the art” environment.
With over 60 years of combined experience developing concepts and markets with speciality carbohydrates the application team are viewed by the industry as leaders in their field, particularly for health and nutrition applications. This includes formulations that are developed for weight management, gut health and oral health. All application managers have extensive food manufacturing experience which ensures industry respect.
Flexible application units with manageable batch sizes have allowed efficient new ingredient screening and quick project turn around and this has proved particularly useful for the evaluation of new and/or competitive ingredients.
Combining knowledge of nutrition science, application innovation and consumer insight to produce commercial product concepts and supporting services has enabled the application team to aid the commercial success of Sweetener and other Danisco products globally. Danisco said that the new facilities will allow the continuation of this winning combination.
