Codorníu Unveils Latest Advertising Campaign with Art Nouveau Twist
15 Dec 2015 --- Codorníu Cava, Spain’s leading Cava producer, is launching a new international ad campaign this winter.
Beginning in the UK on 8th December, Codorníu will release a 20 second video online – a shorter version of which will be shown throughout London’s main underground stations.
The global campaign centres on Codorníu’s slogan, “We are Codorníu, since 1551”, and its two latest releases, Codorníu Cuvée Barcelona Brut 1872 and Codorníu Anna Blanc de Blancs. Using specially commissioned work by internationally acclaimed illustrator Conrad Roset, the campaign showcases the personalities of the two Cavas – the first, art nouveau and the second, feminine and elegant.
Barcelona-born Conrad Roset is known for combining new and modern artistic forms with classic techniques – a style he developed whilst studying at the Joso School and at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona. Often using watercolour, Conrad’s work evokes harmony and beauty.
For the campaign, Roset has taken inspiration from art nouveau artists and added his own radical, postmodernist flair to create a short animation centred around Codorníu Cuvée Barcelona Brut 1872, released earlier in 2015 in homage to the year in which the first bottle of Cava was produced, and Codorníu Anna Blanc de Blancs.
Inspired by the family’s last heiress, Anna Blanc de Blancs is a pure, fresh and vivacious Cava that pays homage to the role of women in Codorníu’s history, which is skilfully depicted by Roset in a delicate and effervescent animation.
This campaign recently follows the launch of Codorníu Anna Blanc de Blancs and aims to reinstate Codorníu Cava in the UK as a drink to be enjoyed outside of special occasions, a Cava that can turn any moment into a spontaneous celebration.
Javier Pagés, chief executive of Codorníu Raventós Group, says: “With the Christmas campaign we expect to consolidate above market growth for Codorníu at the time which concentrates over 30% of sales.
“For yet another year we are presenting something that is much more than just a Christmas advert. We want to take the Codorníu brand beyond conventions. 2015 has been the year of Cava’s recovery, positioning Codorníu at the top of the category.”
