Cleaner Label Food Applications, Free-From Caramel (E150c)
Amongst S Black’s many innovative solutions, replacing Caramel (E150c) with a natural choice is proving to be of benefit to customers.
03/07/07 Using natural colours and reduction of E numbers on pack is an increasing requirement for successful products in the UK food and drink industry. Amongst S Black’s many innovative solutions, replacing Caramel (E150c) with a natural choice is proving to be of benefit to customers.
A recent innovation from S. Black is to use speciality Malt extracts as natural colourings across many food and drink applications. Apart from the rich brown colour that can be achieved at low dosage levels, a major advantage is the clean declaration of “Malt extract”.
Such extracts enable an easy to use choice of Liquid or Spray-dried options to deliver that natural colour requirement. With Technical and Sales advice available to support customers’ projects through to fruition, this is proving to be a key ingredient for many developers.
New from the S. Black development kitchen - a Barbeque sauce demonstration, that shows how the same colour sauce, using a specialist malt from the S Black range with clean label attributes, can be achieved instead of using Caramel E150C. The addition of just 1% malt extract, provides an appetizing sauce with satisfying mouth feel.
