CJ Haide expands cysteine production
28 Nov 2017 --- In January of 2017, CJ Haide (a Subsidiary of CJ CheilJedang) based in Ningbo, China, launched its first fermented cysteine, using an innovative production method. Since its launch, CJ Haide’s cysteine has been enjoying favorable reception from the market, because it offers eco-friendly, vegan product at a very competitive price. By continuing to use non-GMO raw materials, CJ plans to expand its market share by increasing its supply in Q4 of 2017.
Currently, more than 50 percent of the cysteine in the world is produced via hydrolysis, a harsh chemical process in which human hair or feather are dissolved in acids to break down its protein. For ethical, environmental and religious reasons, consumers have been demanding a different alternative to hydrolyzed cysteine, but due to high production costs, fermented cysteine was not widely accessible.
In November 2017, CJ Haide completed the expansion of its Daxie facility, increasing its production capacity of fermented cysteine to 3,000 tons. This move will increase the availability of much needed fermented cysteine in the market at a competitive and stable price. CJ Haide is also widening the choices in the industry with other fermented cysteine series.
