Chr. Hansen Sells Excipients & Coating Division
Chr. Hansen decided to divest the Excipients & Coating Business in order to further strengthen its expertise in developing and supplying cultures, dairy enzymes, natural colors and flavors to the food and nutritional industries.
05/09/07 Chr. Hansen and Colorcon Inc. have announced the sale of Chr. Hansen's Excipients & Coating Division to Colorcon. The transaction includes the product lines of coatings, compressible sugar, compressible calcium carbonate and sugar spheres, as well as the production facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin, USA.
"As we continue to review our business strategies with a determined focus on growth in the areas of Cultures & Enzymes, Colors and Flavors, we realized that the Excipients & Coating Business was not within these core product areas," says David R. Carpenter, President of Chr. Hansen, Inc. in North America. "Thus, we decided to divest the Excipients & Coating Business in order to further strengthen our expertise in developing and supplying cultures, dairy enzymes, natural colors and flavors to the food and nutritional industries."
William Motzer, Colorcon President and CEO states: “We’re excited about this opportunity to expand Colorcon’s product offerings and leverage our global distribution, technical service, and sales infrastructure.”
The sales price was not disclosed.
