Carrefour, Wal-Mart grow in China

09/02/05 The world's two largest retailers, Carrefour SA (12017.FR) and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), each posted double-digit sales growth in China last year, the South China Morning Post reports.
French hypermarket giant Carrefour, China's largest foreign retailer and the second-largest in the world, posted CNY16.24 billion in sales in the mainland last year, up 20.9% from 2003, the Post says.
U.S.-based Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the world, posted a 30.5% on-year rise in sales in the mainland to CNY7.63 billion, the Post says.
