Campina plans acquisition of Aveve Zuivel
The acquisition will create new growth opportunities for Campina's own butter division in both consumer and industrial markets.
16/02/05 Campina plans to acquire Belgian milk fat specialist Aveve Zuivel NV. The acquisition will create new growth opportunities for Campina's own butter division, Campina Buttergold, in both consumer and industrial markets. With Aveve Zuivel, Campina will strengthen its market positions with applied industrial milk fat products in various EU markets, such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Spain and Italy. Campina will also acquire additional technological know-how and can realise synergy benefits in its normal business operations. Aveve Zuivel will be integrated into the Campina Buttergold division.
Aveve Zuivel is part of the Aveve group and located in Klerken (Belgium). Its core activities are the production and marketing of butter oil, and butter oil specialties in the European market. Aveve Zuivel's main sales markets are Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy and Spain. The company has some 65 employees and an annual turnover of around EUR 100 million.
Important sales markets for Campina Buttergold products in the EU are the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Austria. A substantial proportion of the turnover is also realised through exports to countries outside the EU. Butter specialist Campina Buttergold realises innovation and thereby, distinguishes itself from the competition by focusing on low-fat butter concepts, butter that spreads straight out of the refrigerator and appealing packaging, such as butter tubs. The clients for the industrial butter products are industrial bakeries, ice-cream manufacturers, chocolate producers and producers of ready-made meals.
With the right supplementary technologies, new sales opportunities arise in consumer and industrial markets. With the acquisition of Aveve Zuivel, Campina Buttergold will realise both.
