Bpi Films Reveals Plans for Pro2Pac 2011
These shrinkfilms offer all the performance of conventional products but from a considerably reduced film thickness.

1/19/2011 --- Bpi.films – the leading manufacturer of polythene shrink, stretch and convertor films - has announced its plans for Pro2Pac 2011. At the event, the business will use its stand (A62 in Hall S5.) to showcase a number of products from its growing portfolio of technically advanced downgauged films, which allow users to improve efficiency, reduce costs and minimise their environmental impact.
In particular, visitors to the bpi.films stand will be able to learn more about the manufacturer’s increasingly popular Novatek range. These shrinkfilms offer all the performance of conventional products but from a considerably reduced film thickness. As a result, users package their products using less film by weight and in turn create less packaging waste. Plus, with Novatek – as with most of the products offered by bpi.films – this post use packaging is 100% recyclable.
As an additional environmental benefit, Novatek’s thinner profile also allows bpi.films to wind more film onto a standard reel. This greater length of film per reel reduces delivery requirements and attributable transport emissions.
As well as green advantages, Novatek’s greater length of film per reel also ensures improvements in efficiency. As fewer film deliveries are required, users spend less time on associated administrative demands such as the need to order film and to process it at goods inwards. In addition, they can wrap more units with fewer stoppages for reel changes, maximising packaging line output and reducing downtime.
Aside from Novatek, staff on the bpi.films stand will also be promoting Supreme RIX12. A new addition to the manufacturer’s range, this highly versatile, multi-layer cast stretchfilm is aimed at customers employing semi automatic pallet stretchwrapping machines. It allows these users to enjoy a number of advantages normally only afforded by more advanced, power pre-stretch machinery – in particular the ability to apply thinner layers of film which helps to deliver significant cost savings and a marked reduction in packaging waste.
As with Novatek, RIX12 draws on advanced polymers and state-of-the-art extrusion technology to benefit from a downgauged profile. It is able to offer all the strength, loading holding characteristics and performance levels of a conventional 17micron (mμ) stretchwrap – but from a film profile that’s only 12mμ in thickness.
This thinner profile again allows bpi.films to wind more film onto each roll and in turn, more pallets per reel to be wrapped. In addition to saving up to 25% on wrapping costs, this greater length of film per roll also means fewer stoppages for reel changes maximising productivity.
By virtue of its downgauged profile, RIX12 offers similar environmental and operational benefits to Novatek as well. This includes the ability to wrap pallets using less film by weight (resulting in less 100% recyclable waste), fewer film deliveries and attributable transport emissions and streamlined administrative demands.
Further benefits to RIX12 include a low cling outer face which ensures excellent wrap integrity (as wrapped pallets will not stick to each other and get damaged during storage and transit) and a low unwind noise, which helps to create a quieter working environment.
RIX12 can also contribute to better pallet presentation. Thanks to the cast production method used to manufacture the product, it enjoys excellent film clarity. This can play an important part in maintaining an organisation’s external image as well as in facilitating easier bar code scanning.
