Ajinomoto’s Sugar Substitute Advantame Gets Green Light From Israel
05 Sep 2016 --- Israel is the latest country to approve Ajinomoto’s Advantame as the number of countries where the zero-calorie sweetener is marketed grows to 36.
As the worldwide movement to reduce sugar consumption gathers momentum, more Governments around the world are approving Advantame, due to its clean, sugar-like taste profile, functionality and cost effectiveness.
Israel joins USA, Mexico, Japan, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Turkey, in giving the sugar substitute a stamp of approval. It can be used to replace caloric sweeteners and other high-potency sweeteners in foods and beverages without compromising flavor profile.
In fact, according to Ajinomoto, Advantame enhances flavor. Some of its unique benefits include the fact that it blends well with caloric and non-caloric sweeteners which in turn give food and beverage companies more opportunities to cut down calories and manage their sweetness costs.
“In the USA, where new added sugars labeling regulations are taking effect, these sweeteners play a significant role in helping food manufacturers deliver good tasting products with less added sugar and calories,” says Brendan Naulty, from Ajinomoto North America Inc.
“We are pleased that Israel now has advantame as an option to do the same.”
The Japanese chemical and food corporation is becoming increasingly involved with solutions for improved food resources, human health and global sustainability. Ajinomoto also is the leading supplier of aspartame, the world’s most successful low-calorie sweetener, which is made from two amino acids. Aspartame has been approved in over 135 countries and is used in thousands of products.
