Ajinomoto to Build New Umami Seasonings Factory in Thailand
Ajinomoto's goal is to provide consumers in the growing economies of Asia and other countries around the world with the universal values of deliciousness and health through its umami seasonings and other original food products for home-cooked meals, prepared meals for home consumption, and restaurants.
Nov 5 2010 --- Ajinomoto Co., (Thailand) Ltd., a subsidiary of Ajinomoto Co. Inc., has announced plans to invest 5.39 billion baht (approximately 14.7 billion yen) to build a new umami seasonings factory in Ayutthaya Province, Thailand.
Ajinomoto has already decided to increase production capacity for nucleotide seasonings in Thailand, and with the addition of the new umami seasonings factory, the Company will invest a total of 24.0 billion yen to expand production capacity. Both facilities are scheduled for completion in 2013. Umami seasonings and nucleotide seasonings are key ingredients of Ajinomoto's seasoning products, including the umami seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO and various flavor seasonings. These capacity expansions will enable Ajinomoto to meet increasing demand in Asia and other parts of the world, as well as to deepen its presence in growing seasonings markets overseas and expand into new regions and business areas to further strengthen its overseas food products business.
Ajinomoto's seasoninngs business based on umami as a key ingredient comprises three areas:
1. Umami seasoning AJI-NO-MOTO for consumers
2. Flavor seasonings and menu-specific seasonings for consumers
3. Umami seasonings for processed food manufacturers
By unifying the operations of these three areas, Ajinomoto has developed a unique business model offering value tailored to customer needs.
