Accelerade and AccelGel Introduce New Lemonade and Citrus Orange Flavors for Endurance Athletes
Accelerade has been proven to increase rehydration by 15 percent, improve exercise endurance by 29 percent, decrease muscle damage by 83 percent and improve performance in a subsequent workout 15 hours later by 40 percent.
28/06/06 In response to the demand of endurance athletes, Accelerade(R) and AccelGel(R), the only sports drink and energy gel with the patented and proven-effective 4:1 carbohydrate to protein ratio, are introducing new flavors.
Accelerade, which is available in fruit punch, lemon lime, blue raspberry and orange, will now be available to athletes in a refreshing lemonade flavor. Published studies have shown that compared to a carbohydrate-only sports drink, Accelerade has been proven to increase rehydration by 15 percent, improve exercise endurance by 29 percent, decrease muscle damage by 83 percent and improve performance in a subsequent workout 15 hours later by 40 percent.
AccelGel, currently available in 1.4-ounce packages in chocolate, strawberry kiwi and vanilla, will now be available in a tangy citrus orange. In studies versus the leading carbohydrate energy gel, AccelGel has been demonstrated to increase endurance by 13 percent.
"While athletes clearly recognize the performance benefits of Accelerade and AccelGel when compared to a traditional sports drink or sports gels, they also enjoy having a choice when it comes to the flavors," said Dr. Robert Portman, CEO of PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc. (PHLI) manufacturers of Accelerade. "Lemonade and citrus orange offer endurance athletes some exciting new flavors and respond to their need for variety of flavors in their sports drinks and gels."
At the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in Denver, CO, last month, investigators presented the results of five new studies that showed the efficacy of Accelerade sports drink and gel. The ACSM is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world with more than 20,000 members.
Introduced in 2001, Accelerade was the first sports drink engineered to meet all the hydration, energy and nutrition needs of endurance athletes. For more information on Accelerade and AccelGel and on the studies, visit http://www.accelerade.com.
