A Joint Statement From Molson Coors Brewing Company And Malteries Soufflet
05 Jan 2015 --- Molson Coors UK and Malteries Soufflet, a member of the Soufflet Group, can confirm the agreement to sell Molson Coors UK maltings business, Shobnall Maltings, located in Burton upon Trent, to Malteries Soufflet.
For Malteries Soufflet, the acquisition of Shobnall Maltings is a logical step forward in its long term strategy. It is also an opportunity to enter the British malt market – the second largest in the E.U.
As part of the sale, Molson Coors UK employees at Shobnall Maltings will transfer to Malteries Soufflet at the beginning of July 2015.
This transfer will be in line with UK employment law – a process locally known as ‘TUPE’. There are no redundancies planned as part of the sale. Molson Coors UK has also signed a long term supply contract to purchase malt from Malteries Soufflet ensuring a sustainable future for the site.
Molson Coors UK believes Malteries Soufflet will be a good home for its people and Shobnall Maltings will have a great opportunity to grow and thrive being part of an international and experienced maltster company.
Molson Coors UK will continue to focus on its core business of making and selling leading brands that delight the UK’s beer drinkers. Its beer brands will continue to be brewed with 100% British barley.
Malteries Soufflet is delighted to become part of the British maltings industry. The company’s objectives are to ensure that the capacity of Shobnall Maltings is fully optimised and to share its knowledge and experience with U.K. based brewing and distilling businesses.
