€2m production plant revamp: Scentium Flavours pushes up capacity by 40 percent
The company invests in improving its Spanish HQ and increasing its flavor offerings
09 Jul 2019 --- Scentium, the flavor division of the Iberchem Group, has invested €2 million to revamp the production plant at its head office in Spain. The improvements are expected to increase the flavor offerings by almost 40 percent and the new center will be fully operational later this month. Part of the revamp includes the use of two new robots (Roxane K and GT) which will allow Scentium to come up with new flavor designs “in record time and quality.”
“We work in an industry where the customer’s demand is constantly changing. Flavor manufacturers such as Scentium need to adapt themselves to this evolving demand,” says José Manuel Mateos, General Director at Scentium. “The modernization of our installations was a pillar in the Group’s 2020 expansion plan.”
“Since the beginning, we have been committed to responding proactively with innovative flavor solutions, delivered in the shortest time possible. In this sense, the modernization of our installations was done not to respond to today’s demand, but to better anticipate that of tomorrow,” Mateos adds.
The company has more than doubled the capacity of its physical-chemical labs and automated many of its technical operations, enabling projects to be carried out simultaneously.
Other improvements include the acquisition of a new NIRO atomizer and the reduction in environmental emissions as well as prevention of work-related hazards by decreasing the handling of heavy loads.
Scentium has a commercial presence in more than 120 countries and logistical centers in Europe, North Africa and Asia. The Iberchem Group is currently carrying out a global expansion plan and has opened two new branches, in South Africa and India, in the last two years.
Iberchem opened its new fragrance and flavor creative center in Mumbai last December. The facility hosts the activities of both Iberchem (fragrances) and Scentium (flavors) as well as a full team of laboratory specialists, perfumers, flavorists and sales representatives.
“The new creative center in Mumbai reflects our global business strategy to strengthen its presence in fast-growing markets such as India,” CEO of Iberchem, Ramón Fernández, said at the time.
