Few technologies have generated more coverage and hype in the last two years than blockchain, but so far, the jury is still out on just how applicable it will be. In the food industry, blockchain is presented as an opportunity to bring greater efficiency, transparency and traceability to the exchanges in supply chains. It, therefore, has the potential to play a key role in protecting food integrity. One innovator within the blockchain space that is specifically focusing on food is ripe.io, a San Francisco-based start-up. FoodIngredientsFirst spoke with co-Founder Taja Ramachandran about the background to this innovative company and what role blockchain can have in food going forward.
