Avena Nordic Grain Oy is an expert in rapeseed (canola). We are Finland’s most significant producer of vegetable oils and rapeseed expellers. Vegetable oil products are manufactured in Avena’s own environmentally friendly oil crushing plant in Kirkkonummi, Finland. 

Avena R&D focuses on rapeseed (canola) and new ingredients thereof. Our dynamic team is focused on co-operation. We strive for getting great results together with our customers and building a great networking of specialists.

Avena Nordic Grain Oy is part of the Apetit Plc Group. Apetit Plc is an important Finnish food company dating back to the 1930s.

Products / Markets

BlackGrain From Yellow Fields™, the new rapeseed powder ingredient, is the result of Avena’s innovation and R&D. It is one of the recent examples of innovative product development that takes into consideration sustainability and cutting down the food chain.  

BlackGrain has high nutritional value, and is a great combination of fiber, protein, and good fats, as well as an ideal profile of all essential amino acids. It is a perfect complement to, for example, wheat and pea protein. It is a product of responsible Nordic agriculture and a circular economy. BlackGrain is a vegan ingredient that is also gluten-, GMO-, legume-free and soy-free.
