New natural source for red colors

08 Jul 2019 --- Chr. Hansen scored an innovation prize at the IFT 2019 Food Expo. The company’s FruitMax reds are based on the Hansen sweet potato and are claimed to “deliver a red like no other.” They are minimally processed, bright, beautiful and stable plus 100 percent plant-based with no off-taste, which is often characteristic of other similar red colors coming from natural sources. They are presented as a great alternative to carmine and synthetic reds in many food and beverage products. Concepts on display included a Strawberry Lemonade Slush featuring FruitMax Red 107, with a strawberry variegate swirl coming courtesy of supplier Agrana Fruit.

An organic potato fiber solution

21 Dec 2018 --- Austrian-headquartered starch supplier AGRANA has innovated with the launch of a new organic potato fiber solution, to meet technical and health demands. At HiE 2018, the company presented Agenafiber amid the strong rise of a high fiber fortification trend. Due to its well-developed water-binding properties and texturizing characteristics the insoluble fiber offers a lot of various additional benefits in food products, including meat alternatives.

Vegan Egg Replacer Provides Same Taste and Texture for Bakery Applications

11 Jan 2017 --- Austrian food company Agrana have launched a vegan egg substitute for the bakery sector called Agenovum 22.070 – it can be used to make light, fluffy waffles, pancakes and cookies. 50g of dry solid is the equivalent to one whole egg. Speaking with FoodIngredientsFirst, Gabor Klauser, MBA, Food and Ethanols at AGRANA said: “Many customers are appreciating our new product when looking to replace egg in various bakery applications. Agenovum 22.070 is a vegan certified ingredient, which allows our consumers to enter into higher quality food segment for vegan bakery, which has been challenging in the past.”
