WILD Launches Rainforest Alliance Juice Concepts and New Fermentation Technology
18 Sep 2013 --- At drinktec, WILD is presenting creative products and concepts to help manufacturers develop the right solutions which will bring fresh impetus to the market for juices and beverages with a high juice content. Juices have traditionally had to satisfy two consumer trends: they have to offer a healthy added value and have a delicious taste.
Nowadays, however, those factors alone are not enough to stimulate demand on European markets which are stagnant, if not declining. In addition to the classic flavors of apple and orange, people now want exotic tastes, innovative concepts and sustainably manufactured products.
WILD's portfolio features brand new products: fruit juice concentrates which bear the certified seal of the international environmental protection institute Rainforest Alliance. WILD works with this non-governmental organization, a member of the Sustainable Agriculture Network, via its site in Amsterdam. The Rainforest Alliance Certified quality seal is given to products with raw material that meet specially defined criteria for sustainable farming.
WILD currently offers Rainforest Alliance Certified juice concentrates based on orange, pineapple and banana. Manufacturers can leverage this in their marketing, since the internationally recognized certificate is a significant advantage in consumer communications.
At drinktec, WILD is presenting its range of delicious juices with a clearly defined origin. Each of the different blends ? Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Amazon ? are a composition of well known and popular fruits such as orange and pineapple, along with selected exotic fruits from that continent or region. The fruits featured in each juice are commonly used in the respective area. The point of distinction here is that the fruits' origin can be indicated on the product label. The African mix highlights the exotic marula fruit and pink guava from South Africa. WILD's Asian blend contains Alphonso mangoes from India complemented by lychees, tamarind and coconut water. Another highlight of the portfolio is the Caribbean drink with red grapefruit from Cuba and pineapple from Costa Rica. It also includes a tropical mix of fruits from Ecuador and Brazil, such as passion fruit and acerola. Each flavor promises new taste sensations and evokes dreams of faraway lands.
In the nectar sector, WILD offers a range with appealing and visually striking colors. These new products are blue, dark-bluish black and pink – and guaranteed to turn heads! The colors of the “Nectar Color Range” indicate the flavor of the fruits used in each beverage. The blue flavor contains for instance fruit juice concentrates from plums, blueberries and red grapes. The dark kind is nearly black and is made of concentrates of blackberries and blackcurrant. The third nectar compound is pink and based on raspberry, cherry and pomegranate.
The healthy image of juices can be effectively emphasized by integrating functional ingredients – an added value which generally allows for a better price point as well. At drinktec, WILD is presenting two new functional beverages with a high juice content, and both are made of not from concentrate (NFC) pure juice. The red multifruit flavor contains passion fruit, red currant, red grapes and magnesium, while yellow multifruit features a blend of twelve different fruits and several vitamins, including Provitamin A, Vitamin C and a Vitamin B complex.
Another trend noted at the show was that fermented products are in high demand right now – everything from classic malt beverages to new fruit based products. Thanks to WILD's patent pending fermentation technology, visitors at drinktec 2013 can look forward not only to the company's traditional concepts but to numerous interesting innovations as well. WILD also presents ideas for the trend beverage Fassbrause.
The new fermentation technology which WILD is currently having patented offers countless advantages for beverage manufacturers. For example, these fermented compounds can be used for halal products, since no alcohol develops during production. This opens up options for innovative concepts customized to different target groups and markets. Another distinct advantage is that the technology can be used both for processing malt extracts and fruit concentrates. This makes it possible to create innovative kinds such as fermented grape with an authentic flavor profile. WILD ingredients are the basis for a number of beverage applications. Manufacturers can use them to reach out to a larger target group and new consumers.
