Synergy Expands International Footprint With Thai Manufacturing Hub
3 June 2013 --- Leading flavours and ingredients manufacturer and supplier, Synergy, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Samut Prakarn, Bangkok, Thailand. The latest in a series of investments it has made in Asia, the facility will allow Synergy to provide enhanced production and technical support to its fast growing portfolio of customers in the region.
Synergy, which is owned by Carbery, the Irish dairy co-operative, has developed a strong customer base in countries across Asia since it first entered the market in 2009. The new facility, formally opened by Irish Ambassador to Thailand and Malaysia, H.E. Declan Kelly, will provide a wide variety of ingredients and support services to manufacturers in the large and fast-developing Asian food and beverage industry. The factory will offer blended powder and liquid flavour production facilities, in addition to sweet and savoury flavour creation and application laboratories. It will also provide a full range of technical, warehousing and customer support services.
“As we continue to grow our business and develop strong relationships in Asia, it has become a priority for us to expand our capabilities in the region,” Steve Morgan, Managing Director at Synergy Europe & Asia, comments. “This new plant will allow us to work even more closely with our customers, to share the expertise of our expanding local team, as well as Synergy’s global resources, and to develop products that cater for the unique and flourishing food and beverage markets in the region.
“Thailand is the ideal location from which to continue our regional growth – with first-class infrastructure, it acts as a hub for Asia Pacific; it also has a highly skilled workforce with a large number of food science graduates. Thailand is a vibrant and fast growing market for food flavours and ingredients. It’s the world’s fifth largest food exporter, yet imports 80 per cent of the flavourings used in food and beverage production; so there are exciting opportunities for us to add real value to local manufacturers.”
H.E. Declan Kelly, Irish Ambassador to Malaysia and Thailand, comments: “This brand new facility brings significant new technical resource and manufacturing capacity to the food and beverage industry in Thailand, and across the region. Synergy is now well placed to service the growing number of Thai and wider Asian companies investing heavily in new food and beverage consumer products.”
Thailand was the location of Synergy’s first physical investment in Asia, when it opened a technical centre in the country in 2009. The company has commercial representation across the region, with customers in The Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Japan and Vietnam.
