15 Nov 2012 --- Spectra have recently announced the withdrawal of PVC containers from future product offerings. The decision falls in line with our environmental ethos and reinforces the view that PVC is not as environmentally friendly or as recyclable as PET or HDPE.

Spectra's Commercial Director, Gavin Chenery commented "We were finding it increasingly difficult to justify the use of PVC in our products after the introduction of our PCR (Post Consumer Regrind) products. It just didn't sit comfortably with all the other environmentally friendly measures we had in place. Besides we really wanted to lead by example".

Spectra's PCR illustrates perfectly that recycled PET or HDPE, when coloured, decorated or finished, can still produce genuine premium products without further impact on the planet.

Spectra's PCR also offers a degree of environmental accountability too, popular with both brands and consumers alike. This is because our PCR is a closed loop system that is fully traceable to the local councils that supply it ensuring further peace of mind.

Gavin continued "We're very lucky at Spectra, our factory is set in the beautiful green fields of Suffolk so it's very easy to take one's surroundings for granted, yet it makes you realise that just a few changes by everyone can make a big difference in preserving the environment".

Clearly we don't just put the onus on our customers either when it comes to greener responsibilities. For example, our bespoke manufacturing plant boasts a roof structure made from recycled aluminum. The plant also uses air source heat pumps that reclaim heat around the building. Furthermore, all card packaging used is recycled with full FSA accreditation.
