Search to Appoint a Chair of the Food Standards Agency
23 Jun 2014 --- The Secretary of State for Health and Ministers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland has announced it is looking to appoint a Chair of the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
The FSA is responsible for food safety and food hygiene across the UK. It works with local authorities to enforce food safety regulations and to commission research related to food safety.
The Chair of the FSA is a high-profile appointment that requires an outstanding individual to provide leadership and challenge to the Agency. The Chair will need to have the ability to analyse, deliver and explain difficult judgements or decisions under considerable scrutiny and act as an ambassador for public health and consumer protection.
The Secretary of State for Health and Ministers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland determine the length of the appointment, which will be for up to a maximum of four years.
