Rebiana and Erythritol Products Headline Cargill Healthy Concepts at HiE 2010
Cargill showcased concepts on how it is possible to combine proven functional health benefits and lighter nutritional profiles, with traditional enjoyment of good flavour, desirable mouthfeel, and straightforward manufacturing.
19 Nov 29010 --- At this year’s HiE, Cargill will present Truvia rebiana for the first time within Europe, alongside a range of other sophisticated new concepts, including Cargill’s Zerose erythritol, Barlív barley betafiber and other elements from Cargill’s wider portfolio of heart health solutions, weight management options and cholesterol reducers.
Truvia rebiana is a great-tasting zero-calorie intense sweetener, 200 times sweeter than sugar, which is derived from a natural source: the best tasting components of the stevia leaf. “Cargill manages the Truvia brand supply chain from field to table to ensure that a safe and consistent quality product is delivered to customers each and every time”, comments Elizabeth Fay, Head of External Relations and Communications for Truvia Europe.
Erythritol, the only zero-calorie polyol bulk sweetener, is also noted for its superior digestive tolerance, plus valuable taste-masking properties that can enhance the organoleptic profile of final food formulations. Cargill’s Zerose erythritol synergises well with Truvia rebiana and is a mainstay of Cargill’s sweetness portfolio. Barlív barley betafiber, meanwhile, is a concentrated form of beta-glucan from barley, which enables the delivery of a proven cholesterol reduction claim in all kinds of beverages without affecting taste, colour or viscosity[3].
At the Cargill stand, technical and marketing experts explained how the comprehensive and diverse nature of Cargill’s health and nutrition portfolio allows it to influence the whole food matrix in a uniquely effective way for manufacturers.
