Price Increase on Virgin Fibre-Based Paperboard
Iggesund announced a price increase for Incada last autumn but was not able to implement it.
30/04/07 Iggesund Paperboard is raising the price its solid bleached board range, Invercote, and its value added-functions products by €80 per tonne for all deliveries as of 1 June. The company’s folding box board range under the Incada brand will go up in price by €65 per tonne for deliveries as of 14 May.
The price increases are largely because costs for input materials like wood, energy, chemicals and transport have gone up sharply over the past couple of years without paperboard manufacturers being able to adjust their own prices accordingly. Iggesund announced a price increase for Incada last autumn but was not able to implement it.
“Today the situation is different, since our competitors, who represent 70 per cent of the market for virgin fibre-based board in Europe, have already announced price rises,” comments Björn Kvick, President of Iggesund. “We are following that lead by implementing our own increase now. With the strong overall growth we have seen in Europe in the past two years, and with the increasing demand for packaging material in particular, this is definitely the right time to raise prices.”
