Pernod might target Allied Domecq
Pernod Ricard has lined up investment bankers to look actively for acquisitions and Allied is thought to be its first choice.
04/02/05 Allied Domecq is thought to be an acquisition target for French drinks group Pernod Ricard. Speculation about the takeover move sent shares in the world's second-biggest spirits group up by 6 percent. Allied has wine assets in the US, Argentina, Spain, Portugal, France and New Zealand.
Reports from the Financial Times found that Pernod has asked JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley to actively look for acquisitions and Allied Domecq is thought to be the first choice. The company is currently valued at £5.4bn ($10.2bn) excluding debt.
Neither Allied or Pernod would comment on the possible takeover, when asked by FoodIngredientsFirst.
